I have a few problems with my 4 cylinder 94′ camry, can any one help me?
I have a 4 banger 94′ camry with a few things that need fixing. I’m currently unemployed so I’m setting out to do some research and try and fix it myself and only save up for whatever parts I may need.I’m starting my research here on yahoo answers. I’ll number and list off the things that need fixing and if you have a tip or an answer for me just number it accordingly please. Also be aware that with certain things I know what the problem is and with others I just know the effects of whatever the problem maybe. for those just tell me what to look for if you have an idea and I’ll eliminate my options from there.
so here goes.
1) A while back I hit a nasty pothole and had to get new front tires, and my right rim was slightly bent with a hair line ***** in it. so miniscule that there was nothing wrong with it for atleast 2-3 months. then one morning I come outside and see the tire was low on air, not flat, just low. so I’m takin the wheel off so I can throw the spare on. first bolt comes off fine and so do the rest except the second which I discovered that the turd who changed my tires must’ve stripped the that sucker because both the bolt and the pin were stripped as all hell.
this problem is obvious. I need to replace the pin and find a new bolt. where can I order/find a pin such as this and a bolt that goes on it and how do I remove and replace the pin? what tools will I need?
2) There is a sort of vibration or something in either the right rear wheel or in the suspension back there. (or atleast it seems to be come from the right side when I’m driving) it starts when I’m goin about 60-65 on a straight line or sometimes 30-40 on a curved road. maybe even 25 if it’s cured enough. although it doesn’t do it on turns like at an intersection. is this more likely a problem with the suspension, or the axle, or god knows what else. what do I need to do to pin-point the problem, and what should I look for? again what tools?
3) I also have a tiny oil leak. every time I check the oil the level doesn’t seem to have gone down at all so it’s very minor. but a leak never the less because there will be a few drop where ever I park unless maybe I’m at a drive-thru or something and it doesn’t get enough time.
4) Next, sometime about mid-summer my check engine light went on. I haven’t yet done anything about it because I didn’t think it was at all serious. the car’s been running fine. now that the weather’s gotten cold it went off (although I’m not at all convinced that this is weather related) but now it’s been coming on and off somewhat frequently. really not even minutes apart. I’m guessing this is very likely a problem with the electrical connection for the light and it’s malfunctioning or something. but my dad also told me to coincider his suspicion that it’s related to one of the fluids that run through the engine. could this maybe be related to the oil leak? what do I need to look for?
what tools may I need?
5) I’m not sure if I’m quite up to this one, but does anyone have any tips for the best way to clean my engine so I can spot it. and then once I do I’ll let you know where it’s coming from and I’ll see if I even want to touch that one my self. I tried spraying purple power on it and then rinsing it off but it didn’t quite get everything off with water. so let me know if you have any tips for that.
6) finally I think I need to only replace the struts in the rear but the suspension is just really worn down and old back there, especially compared to the front. it clanks and everything on bumps. it just sounds nasty, like the suspensions gonna fall apart. so let me know how to figure out if it’s just the struts or something more. and what steps I need to take to replace them.
Thanks and let me know if you’ve got any advice.

Ok, First you changed a tire but have a stripped bolt and or nut. Both can be gotten from a auto parts store, you can just knock the old bolt out, they will tell you how. No special tools.
Next I believe you are saying you have a vibration comming from rear wheel at speed. If its at speed and durring a turn I would look for tire balance, Bad wheel bearing, loose lug nuts. pretty easy if i understood you correctly.
Oil leak, it might not be engine oil, you have transmission and power steering, or even antifreeze. In any case have engine steam cleaned (Cheap) drive for a hr, pull up on curb to get you extra room, put in park with break on, carefully crawl under with flash light and go see, then tell us.
I dont think its related to oil leak. But look on internet or call dealership as most cars have a way you can read the code for free, on mine i turn ignition switch off/on 4 times under a minute and dash lites flash codes. Then youll know.
Yes, steam clean it. Look in local phone book, or buy engine cleaner in spray can from auto store and goto car wash (do it yourself), Let engine cool down, spray clean it followed by washing off with water spray.
Get under car and see if where struts connects to frame the bushings are wipped/worn out. that would be the noise, push up and down on back of car, is it cushioned ? like dampened, thats the struts, If their shot you’ll get bouncy bouncy instead of the dampening type push.
feel free to email, but try a little harder to explain in the most detial you can
