rancho shock conversion problem?

I bought four used rancho shocks on ebay. I bought the adjustable rs9000x series which I was going to use with their in cab romote system. Well after I open up the box I realized they were the ones that adjust from the shock with 9 different settings. Has anybody out there ever taken the adjustment valve off and hooked up an air line to it? the model # is rs99274. Will it ruin the shocks or what?

Go to Rancho with this, but the instructions should detail how to do this. The remote adjustment was optional for those shocks, and I use them, but have not installed the remote unit.
