Should I fix my 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 V6 or get a new truck?

salexa5 asked:

I have a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 V6 truck that has been good (no other major repairs). My front suspension is worn out and it will cost about 1500 to fix it. The truck has 152,000 miles and is worth about that same amount. I rely on my truck for work. Should I fix it or buy another truck with less miles?

Get a new one. Get another Ram 1500. Those things are nice.

the truck is worth about 4 grand in good condition and you are probably better off fixing it and then you know what you have compared if you were to go buy another one and it might be crap after a year or so

If it runs good, then I would fix it. If you buy another used one, then you never know what might be wrong with it. At least you pretty much know how your truck is running. And the price of new trucks is like outrageous. KEEP IT!

I tend to agree that if you’d owned it this long and kept it running good then adding the fact you know this vehicle and in fact find it reliable I’d fix it.Plus if you shop around I’m sure you could probably get that work done cheaper and find cheaper parts.Just be sure if buying struts say to get the ones with full lifetime warranty due to the type of vehicle you have.

Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way it might be a good idea to have a full compression done before the front end work if you do decide to get the vehicle fixed.

I would fix it and keep it. Having no car or truck payments is a good thing.
