What is the most efficient and cost effective way I can improve the power of my truck?

MonsterMan asked:

I have a chevy colorado (inline 5)..I have put a suspension lift on it and after market tires..it never was fast but now it really is slow..I think a turtle actually passed me one time..what would be the most sensible option for getting more power out of my truck..? I already have flow master duel exhaust… I can’t afford to spend alot of money but would like to know what my best options for the money would be..any suggestions? I would rather not have to change out the gears and I am unsure if a cold air intake would help and be worth the money..?

Suspensions for a truck?

David K asked:

I have a 1993 Chevy 2500 4 wheel drive 3/4 ton truck, Im wanting to upgrade the suspension system. Im keeping it the height it is right now though, I dont want to lift it or lower it. The tires I put on it are 2 sizes bigger than the stock ones, so it lifted my truck enough right there. My trucks suspension though is pretty rough, I mean if I hit a pebble, I’ll know.

I really like how the new trucks ride, like Cadillacs, thats how I want my truck to ride. Id like to keep it without an air ride system, though I have heard that is the best way to upgrade my suspension. Anyone who can help me I would appreciate it.

Also any websites or books that would help educate me on how to upgrade a suspension system for a truck, that would help out too. Again I dont want to lift or lower my truck, thanks again.

What should I expect to pay for 2 rear shocks for a S10 Blazer?

The Individualistic Mind asked:

I’ve been shopping around for decent shocks because my rear shocks are dead. They make the truck bounce so bad that the rear end bounces about 5 times on a 1/2″ pothole. (they’re also leaking)

I’m thinking about Monroe shocks since I hear they’re quite good… but what should I expect to pay per shock absorber? I’ve seen them from anywhere between 16 dollars a piece to 130 for a pair. I don’t need super racing shocks or anything fancy… I just need them to be quality shocks that will last a long time.

I do all my own body/suspension work/etc., so please don’t include labor in you calculations. Thanks. :)
