What should I expect to pay for 2 rear shocks for a S10 Blazer?
The Individualistic Mind asked:
I’ve been shopping around for decent shocks because my rear shocks are dead. They make the truck bounce so bad that the rear end bounces about 5 times on a 1/2″ pothole. (they’re also leaking)

I’m thinking about Monroe shocks since I hear they’re quite good… but what should I expect to pay per shock absorber? I’ve seen them from anywhere between 16 dollars a piece to 130 for a pair. I don’t need super racing shocks or anything fancy… I just need them to be quality shocks that will last a long time.
I do all my own body/suspension work/etc., so please don’t include labor in you calculations. Thanks.

Suspension Parts
You can expect to pay about $30-$50 for shocks of decent quality. Go to an auto parts and look at your options. With a vehicle such as yours I would personally go with the cheapest option they give you. But if you plan on keeping the truck for a long time then 30$-$50 shocks will be plenty to spend, any more than that and you might as well start modifuing #$@! cuz your wasting your money.

IF I was doing my own work I’d buy Monroe. They are good shocks. Gas Charged shocks are kind rough riding if you have no weight in the back of the truck though. Talk to the parts counter and ask them. I think you will find a Lifetime Guarantee on them. Make sure you save every receipt on your truck.

Rancho makes the best gas shock for an SUV that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg, about $60 each.
